About Performance Review Poker

You work at Oddball Industries, and it's time for your annual performance review with your manager, Greg. The review lasts 6 rounds. Read Greg's mood from his face, his remarks and what's on his desk (his notes, his coffee), then either Push, citing your wins and asking for more, or Back off, thanking him to keep him happy. Push when he's in a good mood and your raise goes up; push when he's grumpy and you get marked down. The raise announced at the end is your score.

Each round gives you 6 seconds. The clues appear one by one, so a quick decision earns a bonus while waiting makes Greg easier to read. You also have one trump card: "Actually, another company reached out…" Play it when Greg is in his very best mood for a huge bump. Play it at the wrong time and he says "Then I won't keep you," and the review is over. Watch out for a smile that doesn't reach his eyes, and for his poker face.

In Today's Review, everyone plays against the same Greg each day, so you can compare results with friends. For a different review every time, try Practice. No sign-up or download needed. The full rules and numbers are on the How to play page.

A word from Greg
Behind the scenes

Greg's tell: when he's truly in a great mood, he goes quiet and nods. He can look blank even when he's happy, and a smile that doesn't reach his eyes means he's grumpy.
